Amidst the accelerating drive towards net zero, we are all aware of the huge investment in financial capital and innovation needed to be able to reach this goal. But of course we also need an increasing number of talented people to enter our industry with the right talent, skills and mindset.
At ITPEnergised, we are passionate about net zero, educating the next generation and creating pathways in to our industry. We developed our Graduate Development Programme to provide our graduate joiners with the foundations for successful personal and professional development in the renewables space. With a focus on eight key competencies the programme runs alongside the day-to-day project work that our graduates embark on within their respective teams, allowing them to develop and demonstrate these competencies while playing a key role in the business.
Visiting each of the UK offices and getting to know the other teams, is also a key component of the programme. Regular virtual Graduate Coffee Mornings are held where the group hear from other managers and consultants in the company about their own experiences and careers. Fun and social interaction features too, of course, vital for personal development and building team spirit, so with Learning & Development Manager, Sam Goodman at the helm, we run numerous outings with recent ones including a trip to a VR Experience and a fairground visitor attraction in London.
Over the years we have seen many graduates successfully complete the GDP and become an integral part of our team of trusted advisors, with some inevitably moving on to other opportunities within the industry.
We are delighted that a number of our current cohort have recently completed the programme, so our warmest congratulations go to –
- Declan Logan, Consultant, Energy & Emissions
- Aegli Bouzani, Consultant, Sustainable Business
- Michael McKeown, Consultant, Sustainable Business
- Iwan Pritchard, Consultant, Sustainable Business
- Alicia McDowall, EIA Consultant, Environmental Planning
- Ben Young, Consultant Engineer, Technology Services
- Joe Mahoney, Consultant Engineer, Technology Services
The programme has had some great feedback –
“Although passing the graduate programme was not subject to just completing all the competencies, I appreciated the fact there was a defined structure to the whole programme which made it easy to track my development progress and easy to follow which competencies and experiences I should do to progress in my professional career.“
“I really enjoyed that the graduate programme provided networking opportunities through monthly meetings, fostering a sense of community among graduates and facilitating collaboration and idea sharing. Additionally, the programme emphasized continuous learning and professional development through regular talks and presentations, encouraging graduates to invest in their growth and stay updated with industry developments.”
“I appreciated the opportunity and encouragement to see other aspects of the business, which I found to be great for personal development and for getting to know my colleagues.”
And also some advice for new graduates that will be joining us over the next few months –
“Familiarise yourself with the tasks for each competency, identify the difficulty level of each and discuss you’re your line manager expectations for when you can complete each one by.”
“Make the absolute most of the plentiful time and support that you will be given for your development, and which should help you settle in quickly and build good CPD habits that you can carry forward in your career.”
With ITPEnergised now a part of SLR, we are excited to join forces with their own Graduate Programme, giving increased opportunities for learning, development and progression in a truly global organisation.
