ScottishPower Renewables are proposing to develop a nine turbine onshore wind development with turbines up to 180 m to blade tip to the south east of the operational Kilgallioch Wind Farm. The proposed Kilgallioch Wind Farm Extension, the majority of which is located in Dumfries and Galloway, is anticipated to provide enough renewable electricity output to power around 34,600 average UK households.
The site takes advantage of the existing infrastructure of the operational site including use of the operational substation, access roads to the site from the nearest trunk road and no residential properties in close proximity.

Our Role:
ITPEnergised acted as EIA project manager, technical lead and author to several of the EIA Report chapters including geology / hydrology / peat, and ecology.
The site itself includes a number of heritage features, including a scheduled monument, and is located adjacent to two Special Areas of Conservation and Site of Special Scientific Interest. Successful coordination and collaboration of the ITPEnergised-led EIA team allowed for an effective and detailed design iteration process to be undertaken. This took into consideration the environmental constraints, enabled potentially significant effects to be avoided and set out commitments for the implementation of further measures to prevent or reduce any remaining significant environmental effects.
ITPEnergised and the project team provided environmental support in addressing any comments on the application and the further submission of two addenda which successfully addressed the concerns and objections raised from RSBP and Historic Environment Scotland. ITPEnergised also supported in the drafting of a set of conditions for the proposed development.
Outcome:
Following the successful removal of objections and no objection raised from the local planning authority, the Scottish Ministers granted consent in December 2021.
