Skyrora Limited is a UK company headquartered in Edinburgh, developing launch vehicle technology that has evolved from previous rocket systems. Skyrora’s aim is to reduce the cost of space launches through the combination of proven technology and advanced engineering. Skyrora are also involved in the development of Ecosene; a kerosene alternative utilising plastic waste, which they hope to use as an environmentally responsible fuel for their rockets.
While looking to construct a rocket engine test facility, Skyrora appointed ITPEnergised to provide support with environmental inputs to the planning application and the design phase.
We first reviewed Skyrora’s potential sites and identified the site with the fewest constraints and greatest likelihood of planning success.
Upon selection of a suitable site in Midlothian, ITPEnergised project managed Skyrora’s planning application, undertaking technical studies including noise and vibration, air quality, ecology, contaminated land, civil engineering and flood risk, and engaged co-professionals to provide support on planning, transport, landscape and visual assessment and archaeology.
Our Role:
- Project management
- Specialist assessments; noise and vibration, air quality, ecology, contaminated land, flood risk and drainage, civil engineering
- Management of co-professionals to deliver planning support, transport assessment, site design, landscape and visual assessment and archaeological study
Outcome:
The site has received planning consent, subject to conditions. ITPEnergised is working with Skyrora to address the conditions.
