ITPEnergised is supporting the UK’s emerging and fast-developing space industry. Our specialist services are offered from a position of direct, recent and relevant experience and draw on our multiple expert teams.
We can provide support tailored to your unique requirements, ranging from individual specialist surveys through to complete management of environmental, planning and licensing processes.
Spaceport Development
We can support from the very beginning of your project with site selection and constraint/red flag reporting, planning and consenting support and advice and assessment of specialist areas such as marine impact, air quality, noise, climate change mitigation and resilience, geology and peat. As required we can also manage the planning and consenting process acting as your agent.
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
EIA may be required for spaceport developments. We delivered the EIA Report for Shetland Space Centre, a vertical launch spaceport planned for the island of Unst. This was the cumulation of over two years of detailed environmental assessment and set out the likely significant environmental effects of the spaceport and the controls in place to minimise and mitigate those effects. We are currently assisting with post submission studies and construction environmental management.
Spaceport and Launch Operator Licensing
A robust Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE) Report is critical to the Licensing application process for spaceports and launch vehicle operators alike. We have experience of preparing AEE reports and have had the benefit of direct discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Department for Transport and the UK Space Agency on emerging expectations.
Compliance Launch vehicle testing
We have proven approaches and test protocols for assessment of noise and air emissions, and experience of monitoring (baseline and operational) and predictive modelling for engine tests and launches. We also provide marine risk assessments for coastal and transboundary waters.
Satellite Manufacturing
We offer rapid regulatory reviews and compliance assessments for industrial processes of all scales and can provide advice on achieving and maintaining compliance as required.
Net Zero
The drive towards decarbonisation cuts across the whole space industry, from managing operations to disclosing carbon data as a responsible member of the supply chain. Our core purpose is to facilitate our client’s drive towards net zero; from developing strategies, undertaking evaluation and footprinting, to cost-effective and practical interventions at site level.
